Erectile dysfunction medicines seized in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large amounts of unlicensed medications have been taken by Department of Health authorities throughout a search of a house in Glengormley.

A man was spoken with by department officers about unlawfully importing and subsequently supplying unlicensed impotence medications via the internet.

The 47-year-old was likewise questioned about other medicine offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department’s Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its office, Peter Moore, said: “It is vital that we get the message across that unlicensed medications can be dangerous.

“These types of items being offered, generally online, have undergone no quality control and there can be no assurance about their security.

“You merely do not know what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More importantly, you do not understand the result drugs like this may have on your health.”
